Our high intensity training protocol is very similar to the one recommend in this book. Our major partner, Exercise Physiologist Ryan Hall, has contributions to chapter 3 and chapter 8 in Body by Science.

We are much more than a personal training studio. While our core business may be personal fitness training, we have the education, the knowledge, the experience, and the tools to treat special needs, work around injuries, improve performance, increase resistance to injury, and administer physical rehabilitation. When you train at Exercise Science, LLC, you don't just have a personal trainer, you have a personal physiologist.

With an intense study of Exercise Physiology, Muscle Physiology, Biomechanics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Genetics, we have refined our training protocol in order to provide the client with maximum results in minimum time. We teach what science has shown to be the most effective, most efficient, and safest way to exercise. Our goal isn't merely to get you "in shape", but to create a stronger, healthier human, maximize and maintain functional capacity throughout the life span, decrease the incidence of age related degenerative disease, and allow you to approach your maximum genetic capacity.

We are located in Lakeview / Mid City New Orleans, 5331 Canal Blvd. Unit B., New Orleans, LA. 70124.

Every client we train is an experiment unto themselves, throughout the personal training career. Hence, Exercise Science, LLC in New Orleans, LA also serves as a laboratory for collecting data and publishing original research based upon this data, in order to refine and improve the exercise training services we offer our clients, tailored to the individual client's genetic potential. We have partnered with HIT Lab, Inc. Exercise Science, LLC practices a philosophy of exercise called High Intensity Training (HIT). HIT focuses on regulating three principles of physiology to keep results from exercise forthcoming. These three principles are intensity, frequency, and duration. It is important to realize that these three physiological principles are inversely proportional (as one increases, the other two must decrease). The human body will adapt to a higher level of functional capacity only if the stimulus imposed is of sufficient intensity. A lower intensity stimulus introduced more often will only maintain the current functional ability. Because of this, workouts should be intense, brief, and infrequent. You can obtain maximum results from as little as one or two, 30-minute sessions per week.

Exercise is nothing more than a stressor imposed upon the body in order to produce a desired response. Any exercise performed over and above the minimum amount needed to produce the desired response is at best a waste of time, and at worst detrimental. We are not trying to find the maximum amount of exercise the body can tolerate. Rather, we are trying to find the minimum stimulus needed to produce the desired result. The body does not develop during exercise. Rather, it develops during the recovery period between workouts. If another workout is performed before the body is completely recovered from the initial stimulus, the growth process will be interrupted, and further results become impossible to achieve. This is called overtraining. Our main job, as trainers, is to strike a balance between stimulus and recovery, prevent overtraining, and keep results forthcoming for a long time.

Each client requires a specific “dose” of exercise to initiate a growth stimulus, depending on the clients genetic potential, goals, age, diet, stress level, exercise history, current activity level, and fitness status. In this regard, the concept of exercise “dosage” is synonymous to that of medicine. In the presence of an overdose, toxicity effects become a real possibility. Our goal is to find the correct exercise “dosage” throughout the entire personal training career, allowing individual clients to reach their maximum genetic potential.
